My Story
When I look back, my journey has been one of reinvention, courage, and deep curiosity about what it truly means to live well.
In 2004, I left behind a well-established childcare business in India and moved to Australia with my husband and our two-year-old daughter — full of dreams, hope, and a suitcase full of determination. Starting from scratch at nearly thirty wasn’t easy. Despite our degrees and experience, I found myself working as a Christmas casual at Myer alongside bright-eyed eighteen-year-olds! Eventually, I landed an entry-level job at an immigration firm in Sydney, studied Immigration Law to qualify to give advice to clients, and over the next decade, worked my way up the corporate ladder. Life certainly looked successful on paper — another baby, new house, sundry promotions— but burnout had quietly crept in.
When I finally stepped away from a rather Senior position in the corporate world, I thought it was my chance to find what I truly loved. I explored everything for a year from working with dogs to running childcare again — nothing quite fit. Then came an unexpected call from one of the Big Four firms, and I returned to Immigration with a bitter sweet feeling albeit briefly. The burnout and emptiness returned faster than ever!
Around that time, my health had begun to decline. Years of sustained stress had settled into my body, showing up as autoimmune conditions and deep fatigue. One day I was visiting my parents in India, after a stubborn knee injury that refused to heal, and my father suggested I try Bowen Therapy. Sceptical but willing, I went and that session changed everything. For the first time in years, my body and mind deeply relaxed. The relief was profound. Curiosity replaced scepticism, and soon after returning to Australia, I decided to learn this remarkable technique myself.
Within 18 months, I was a qualified Bowen Therapist, running a tiny clinic from my North Epping home — a suburb where, at the time, Bowen Therapy was not popular, nobody knew me, and hardly anyone knew North Epping! Yet somehow, I not only survived, I thrived.
Pilates had always been a love of mine, and I soon discovered how beautifully it complemented Bowen Therapy, especially for rehabilitation and movement retraining. My small studio could accommodate just three people in a mat class, and before long, I qualified with a Diploma in the Pilates method and teaching clients locally and then online through the lockdowns. Now the studio runs equipment classes for all ages throughout the week bringing more wellness and care to the community.
In more recent years, life brought new challenges when I experienced a drift from close friendships, a loss of a beloved fur baby, and later, my dear father. Grief and unprocessed emotions stirred up old patterns and health struggles. It was through my own journey with Life Coaching that I found strength from within. I began to understand how unresolved trauma can live in the body and surface as pain, exhaustion, anxiety, or self-sabotage — patiently waiting for a trigger. Working through it allowed me to heal in ways I never thought possible.
That experience became the seed of my next calling. Today, as a Wellbeing & Life Coach, Bowen Therapist, and Pilates Studio Owner, I help others align their bodies, minds, and emotions — to move from surviving to thriving, and to design a life that feels authentic, empowered, and joyfully theirs.
Australia truly became my home — a place that gave me the freedom to start over, to heal, and to create Aurea Health: a space where science meets soul, and where every journey of healing and growth begins with self-awareness, curiosity, and compassion.
